NEW ORLEANS, June 5 (UPI) -- Another relative of U.S. Rep. William Jefferson, a sister, has been indicted in Louisiana on federal corruption charges.

Betty Jefferson, an elder sister of the indicted congressman, conspired with other family members to plunder more than $600,000 in taxpayer money from three charities that were supposed to help inner-city youths, alleged a 31-count indictment Wednesday. Also charged were Mose Jefferson, brother to the congressman and the New Orleans 4th District assessor, as was Betty Jefferson's daughter, Angela Coleman, reported the Times-Picayune Thursday.

Congressman William Jefferson was indicted last year and is awaiting trial in Virginia on 16 counts of public corruption. Mose Jefferson faces an Oct. 20 federal trial on charges that he bribed the former president of the Orleans Parish School Board.
