SAN ANGELO, Texas, June 4 (UPI) -- A Texas polygamist sect leader is banned from contact with his 16-year-old daughter under a special order signed Tuesday that allows her to return home
The order written by Judge Barbara Walther reunites the girl with her mother but orders she remain out of contact with the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints Church YFZ Ranch and her father, who heads the sect, which remains under investigation on allegations of child abuse..
"Respondent is ordered to take all measures necessary to prevent the child from having any contact, in any form, with Warren Steed Jeffs," wrote the judge. "It is ordered that the respondent shall prevent the child from being within 1,000 feet of the location known as 'YFZ Ranch' in Eldorado, Texas."
Hundreds of children from the polygamist sect are being reunited this week with their parents after Austin's 3rd Court of Appeals and the Texas Supreme Court ruled Texas acted improperly in removing them from the YFZ Ranch. Jeffs' daughter was kept in a foster home for an extra day while details of the court order could be completed, the Deseret Morning News (Salt Lake City) reported Wednesday.
