SAO PAULO, June 4 (UPI) -- A Brazilian convict living the high-life -- with his own gym equipment and TV -- has had his bounty of luxury goods confiscated, officials said.

Genilson Lins da Silva also had more than $170,000 in his cell at a northeastern Brazil prison, as well as two handguns, Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper reported Wednesday.

Silva, who was living by himself -- unusual in Brazil's often overcrowded prisons -- has been transferred to another facility.

Authorities said they were investigating how he managed to have so many amenities while serving a 28-year sentence for murder and armed robbery.
