Officials tour Nepal's former royal palace

KATHMANDU, Nepal, June 1 (UPI) -- A group of Nepalese government officials visited Narayanhity Palace Sunday to discuss security at the facility, which is set to be turned into a museum.

After abolishing the monarchy last week, the national legislature gave King Gyanendra 15 days to vacate the palace.

NepalNews.com reported that Home Secretary Umesh Prasad Mainali, Defense Secretary Baman Prasad Neupane, police and armed police officials were among the officials who visited the former royal palace Sunday.

The group is preparing security plans to be given to the home secretary, the news site said.
