GAZA, May 31 (UPI) -- Israeli soldiers attacked a Hamas base in the Gaza Strip early Saturday, Palestinian authorities said.

There were no reports of people being wounded in the strike, al-Alam reported Saturday.

In an unrelated incident, a blast in Hamas activist Nader Abu Shaban's home left a man dead and 16 other people injured Saturday, Gaza officials said.

Hamas authorities said Abu Shaban was working with explosives when the blast took place.

Israeli soldiers Friday shot at thousands of Palestinians taking part in a demonstration protesting the blockade of Gaza put in place by Israeli forces, the report said. Witnesses said 16 people were wounded.

It is reported at least 3000 Palestinians protested the blockade Friday.

"Hamas will use all means to end the siege ... We will use stronger means in the future," Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri said.
