Iran accused of planning secret operations

BEIRUT, Lebanon, May 30 (UPI) -- Members of the Lebanese Forces say Iran is trying to execute secret missions in Lebanon.

Senior party member Antoine Zahra said Iran was conspiring to conduct "covert operations inside Lebanon and has made its accusations in advance."

Zahra's comments came after Iran's Fars news agency reported that analysts said Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea thinks it is an ideal time to kill Prime Minister Fouad Siniora to ensure political gains.

"They made such accusations because they don't recognize other groups. They made accusations against us after Geagea, in a televised interview, warned about the threat of Velayat Faqih (literally, the rule of the religious authority) and said Velayat Faghih will not recognize non-Shias (non-Shiites) in Lebanon," Zahra said.
