PLEASANTON, Calif., May 30 (UPI) -- A California doctor who fled the country and was profiled on "America's Most Wanted " was arraigned in a California court Friday on sex assault charges.

Tony Shiu, a doctor in Dublin, Calif., was charged with sodomy, sexual penetration of an unconscious person, sexual assault during medical treatment and misdemeanors related to alleged assaults on two men, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Shiu was arrested at San Francisco International Airport Thursday after being deported from Taiwan. He did not enter a plea and was jailed in Dublin on $1 million bail. He will return to Alameda County Superior Court in Pleasanton Monday.

Dublin police began investigating Shiu in August 2006, after two men reported that they passed out during an evening at Shiu's house, the Times reported. Doctors found evidence the men were drugged and one was sexually assaulted.

Police said they think Shiu fled the United States during or after October 2006, when he was last seen. Shortly after, he was featured on "America's Most Wanted."

Taiwanese authorities learned Shiu was in Taiwan and contacted U.S. officials to coordinate his arrest, Dublin Police Sgt. Garrett Holmes said.
