COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 28 (UPI) -- Law school dean Nancy Hardin Rogers was named Wednesday as interim Ohio attorney general by Gov. Ted Strickland.

The dean of Ohio State University's Moritz College of Law will serve until voters on Nov. 4 choose a successor to Marc Dann, who resigned amid political scandal May 14, the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch reported.

"She is a person of great accomplishment who is widely admired by her colleagues," Strickland said of Rogers. The Democratic governor added that she will bring "dignity, professionalism and focus" to the attorney general's office.

Dann was pressured to resign after he disclosed a romantic relationship with a subordinate and after an internal report that indicated the environment in the attorney general's office was conducive to sexual harassment.

"It's a shame that the actions of limited number of persons who didn't live up to these values have undermined public confidence in this office," Rogers said. "The situation must be turned around quickly."
