TALLAHASSEE, Fla., May 28 (UPI) -- Florida Gov. Charlie Crist said the topic of becoming John McCain's running mate did not come up during his recent visit to McCain's Arizona ranch.
McCain is the presumptive Republican U.S. presidential nominee.
In his first meeting with reporters since the Memorial Day visit to Sedona, Crist said the McCains were "very gracious hosts" but did not bring up the idea of Crist as McCain's vice president.
"It wasn't discussed at all," Crist said. "It was a great weekend. Sen. McCain is a great cook. He enjoys grilling out, he does a superb job of it. I ate too much, but enjoyed it."
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel said Crist was among a group of people considered to be contenders for the ticket who spent Memorial Day on the McCain spread. Thus far, none has confirmed that the vice presidency was discussed.
