KABUL, Afghanistan, May 28 (UPI) -- A NATO soldier died and four other coalition soldiers were wounded Wednesday in a roadside bomb explosion in Afghanistan, the military said.
Wednesday's deaths in eastern Afghanistan highlight a new round of fighting in country, CNN reported. Officials said eight civilians and four police officers died Tuesday in roadside bombings and several militants were killed a skirmish with coalition forces.
"Our thoughts and hearts are with the loved ones of the soldier killed and those wounded in this tragic incident," said Portuguese Brig. Gen. Carlos Branco, a coalition spokesman. The soldiers' names and nationalities weren't released.
