KABUL, Afghanistan, May 27 (UPI) -- At least eight people on a bus died Tuesday in Afghanistan after the vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb.
The vehicle was on its way to western Nimroz province when the incident occurred, Younus Rasuli, deputy governor of Farah province, said, the BBC reported.
Although similar attacks have been blamed on the Taliban, there was no immediate claim of responsibility for the latest attack, the report said.
Afghanistan's western provinces including Nimroz border Iran and are scenes of attacks mostly on military convoys, the report said.
The Taliban insurgency has escalated in Afghanistan in recent months, targeting the foreign troops in the country.
