Suicide motorcyclist kills 6, injures 22

BAGHDAD, May 26 (UPI) -- A suicide bomber on a motorcycle crashed his bike into a checkpoint near Baghdad Monday, leaving six people dead and 22 injured, authorities said.

Members of the U.S.-backed Iraqi citizen's group, Sons of Iraq, were at the checkpoint with police when the crash took place in the city of Tarmiya, about 30 miles north of Baghdad, CNN reported Monday.

Tikrit authorities said a bomber with an identification card from Saudi Arabia assaulted police and Sons of Iraq members at a checkpoint.

In a separate incident, a U.S. soldier was killed and two people were injured in a roadside bombing in the area Monday, the report said.
