MLK III's wife delivers baby girl

ATLANTA, May 26 (UPI) -- The first grandchild of slain U.S. civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. is a 7.5-pound girl named Yolanda Renee King, the family said in Atlanta.

Martin Luther King III's wife, Arndrea Waters King. gave birth Sunday, CNN reported.

"We are excited about our precious gift from God and cannot express how fortunate we feel to have our beautiful baby girl, Martin Luther King III said in a family statement.

"It is truly the happiest day of our lives. I know my parents are smiling down from heaven."

The girl has the first name of her father's sister, Yolanda Denise King, who died last year, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution said.
