MELBOURNE, May 24 (UPI) -- A teenager was recovering after suffering stab wounds to his buttocks and back during a brawl in Australia, police say.
Police said the unidentified teenager and two friends got into a fight with nearly 10 other youths near the city of Melbourne this week and the stabbing occurred during the melee, The Australian reported in its Sunday edition.
While the initial brawl between the two groups at a soccer field in the suburb of Lalor was broken up successfully, the two sides resumed their conflict outside an area train station.
The teenager was stabbed during the second melee, presumably with a knife, and was later found by a bystander. His wounds reportedly were non-life threatening.
Police were investigating the crime and the victim's friends were cooperating, The Australian reported.
