OSTERSUND, Sweden, May 24 (UPI) -- A 16-year-old girl should pay $5.4 million in damages for burning down a swimming pool complex in Sweden, an insurance company's lawsuit alleges.
The insurance company Lansforsakringar is seeking compensation for the destructive blaze at the swimming pool complex in Brunflo, which the teenager has already confessed to starting with two friends, The Local reported Saturday.
The teenage girl has been sentenced to 150 hours of community service for the related charge of constituting a public danger, but that sentence has yet to be confirmed.
Two other two teenagers who confessed to taking part in the June 2007 fire were too young to face criminal charges, the Local said.
In addition to facing the litigation filed by the insurance group, the unidentified teenager is being sued by the Ostersund County Council for more than $68,000.
