PRAGUE, Czech Republic, May 23 (UPI) -- Underground transportation in Prague is likely to be shut down for an hour while Czech trade unions hold a strike, union officials said.
"The metro trains will stop, the metro stations will be closed," said Lubos Olejar, a union leader representing transit workers.
The strike is scheduled to take place June 24, for one hour during the day, CTK reported Friday.
Tram and bus operators have also said they plan to take part in the strike. Union leader Krystof Veselka said union members planned to participate in the strike.
The Bohemian and Moravian Trade Union Confederation predicted the strike will halt traffic in several Czech towns.
The unions said the government has taken actions that have limited workers' rights and prompted decreases in real wages in the public sector, healthcare and education.
