VICTORIA, British Columbia, May 23 (UPI) -- A severed human foot in a shoe was found on the Pacific shore of a British Columbia island, the fourth in less than a year, Canadian police said.

Around noon Thursday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were called by a boater along the shore of Kirkland Island who made the discovery, the Victoria Times-Colonist reported Friday.

RCMP Cpl. Nycki Basra said the incident is being treated as suspicious and will be compared for similarities with the first three feet by members of the Richmond RCMP Serious Crime Unit and the B.C. Coroners Office.

She was unable to say if it was a left or right foot, although the first three were all right feet, the report said.

The first two feet were found a week apart on Gabriola and Jedediah Islands in August and the third in February on Valdes Island, the newspaper said.
