TORONTO, May 22 (UPI) -- Tips from the public led to the arrests of the parents of an infant girl found abandoned in a freezing Toronto city stairwell in January, police said.

Toronto Police Service Detective Keith Moxley said one of hundreds of tips led them to a couple, who can't be identified, who lived near the parking garage where the child was abandoned. He said both are 30 years old and each faces four felony charges.

"One of them is certainly abandoning a child under the age of 10, failing to provide the necessities of life, assault causing bodily harm and criminal negligence," Moxley said of the charges.

The girl was estimated to be about 8 months old when a passerby found her in a concrete stairwell with a bloodied face and wearing only a green hat and white snowsuit in sub-freezing temperatures.

Moxley said police released security video of the driver of a green car in the parking lot and also posted video information on the Internet YouTube and Facebook sites asking for the public's help, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., reported.

The child was treated for hypothermia and is in good condition with a foster family, the report said.
