MAKHACHKALA, Russia, May 11 (UPI) -- Police in Russia discovered two bombs in the Republic of Daghestan in the country's tense North Caucasus Region, officials said.

The first bomb was discovered Sunday morning near the border of the Shamkhal-Termen village in the Kizylyurt district in central Daghestan, RIA Novosti reported.

The second explosive device was discovered in the Makhachkala, Daghestan, public safety officials said.

Terrorist acts and rebel clashes are frequent in the republics of Ingushetia and Daghestan as fighting extends from nearby Chechnya, the report said.
