VIENNA, May 10 (UPI) -- Josef Fritzl, accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting his imprisoned daughter, wants his wife to visit him in prison, Austrian prosecutors say.
The 73-year-old, who allegedly kept his daughter locked in a cellar for 24 years, asked for his marital visit after an Austrian court extended his remand custody this week, The (Britain) Telegraph said Saturday.
Fritzl's 68-year-old wife, Rosemarie, is in a psychiatric hospital along with the Ftizls' daughter, Elisabeth, and six grandchildren. Fritzl has confessed to fathering all six of the grandchildren with his daughter, along with another who died while being kept in cellar.
A spokesman for Austrian prosecutors said an investigation into the infant's death is under way and Fritzl could face related charges.
"If he was able to see that the child was severely ill but still did not bring in help, than there are grounds for murder out of negligence charges," spokesman Gerhard Sedlacek told the Telegraph.
