KHARTOUM, Sudan, May 9 (UPI) -- Darfur rebels are planning to infiltrate Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, to carry out acts of vandalism, Sudan army officials said Friday.

Some of the rebels are crossing from Chad, the army said. Border security has been tightened, KUNA reported.

Special attention was being given to followers of Khalil Ibrahim, head of the Justice and Equality Movement and leader of armed operations against the government in recent months.
