CHICAGO, May 7 (UPI) -- Chicago officials are scrambling for answers after a television station aired an investigative report about rodents at O'Hare International Airport.
Since January, seven restaurants at O'Hare have been closed for various infractions of public health laws, including one related to rodent infestation, The Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday.
A spokesman for the city's health department said they were aware of the video aired by WGN-TV, but denied the rodents represented a threat to the hundreds of thousands of travelers who pass through the airport every day.
"Is that in any way compromising the safety of food at O'Hare?" asked Tim Hadac of the Department of Public Health. "The answer appears to be 'no.'"
Karen Pride of the Chicago Department of Aviation says if there is a rodent problem at O'Hare the department wants to eradicate it.
