There has been an ebb and flow in a series of polls on the the likely outcome of the contest between Democratic Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. The consensus points to a statistical dead heat.

Crowds may tell a different story than polls, the Chicago Sun-Times said Monday.

Nearly 5,000 supporters packed Fort Wayne's Headwaters Park to hear Obama compared to 400 who attended a Clinton rally at nearby Indiana Tech University. Clinton, however, drew around 2,000 supporters in Fort Wayne a week ago.

U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., predicts Clinton will win, but poll watchers suggest Obama has a large cross-over appeal among the state's Republicans.

"She'll win the Democrats," Bayh said. "The others, I'm not so sure."
