DNA identifies two of last czar's children

YEKATERINBURG, Russia, May 2 (UPI) -- DNA tests on exhumed bone fragments from Yekaterinburg confirmed they belong to two of the last Russian czar's children, the region's governor says.

Sverdlovsk Gov, Eduard Rossel said that the tests. conducted by a U.S. laboratory, proved the bones were those of Nicholas II's son and heir Alexis and his daughter Maria, Novosti reported.

The remains were exhumed near Yekaterinburg, where the czar, his wife, their four daughters and son and several servants were shot by the Bolsheviks in 1918 shortly after the revolution.
