Cult members escape cave-in

NIKOLSKOYE, Russia, May 1 (UPI) -- Members of a Russian doomsday sect holed up in an underground shelter since last November are safe after a cave-in, police said Thursday.

Thirty-five members of the sect went underground near Nikolskoye in central Russia to wait for the end of the world, which they say is due in May or June, Novosti reported.

Two members have since reportedly died, their bodies apparently buried in the shelter. The others were said to have left after most of the roof collapsed following a heavy rain.
