Embassy bars bin Laden son from England

CAIRO, April 30 (UPI) -- Officials with the British Embassy in Cairo said they denied a British entrance visa to the son of Osama bin Laden over fears he supports his father's ideology.

Omar Ossam bin Laden, 27, said he wants to leave Egypt to live with his 52-year-old British wife, Zaina al-Sabah, in England.

Embassy officials denied his request because they have evidence suggesting he remains loyal to his father, The Times of London said Wednesday.

Entrance officials said they made their decision because "exclusion from the United Kingdom is conducive to the public good . . . in the light of the character, conduct or association of the person seeking leave to enter it is undesirable to give him leave to enter."

Bin Laden said he launched an appeal, saying parental lineage and media reports are not sufficient grounds to deny him a visa.
