Palestine groups talk truce with Israel

CAIRO, April 29 (UPI) -- Palestinian resistance leaders confirmed they were meeting in Cairo Tuesday to discuss a possible truce with Israel.

The session was led by the Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman and followed signals that Hamas was willing to accept a deal, Middle East Online said.

Hamas was not represented at the session. However, Islamic Jihad, Fatah and other major groups attended.

"We hope that our Egyptian brothers' determination will contribute to a common Palestinian position concerning the truce and thus put pressure on Israel to accept the truce and lift the blockade," said Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt Babil Amr.
