The gunmen demanded a ransom of about $32,600 and released two Chinese hostages Sunday to carry their demand, the report said quoting Chinese Embassy officials.

The report didn't say whether the ransom was paid or what happened to the Indonesian hostage. It said the Chinese Embassy was working closely with the Indonesian government and the police to ensure the safety of the hostages.
