SAN ANGELO, Texas, April 28 (UPI) -- Lawyers representing the women of a Texas polygamy sect say they have been unable to obtain information about nine children who were recently hospitalized.

Attorneys at Texas Rio-Grande Legal Aid said they have been having difficulty tracking down the children and arranging for visits by their mothers.

"We can't seem to get anyone on the phone with authority to make

that happen and the mothers don't even know the seriousness of the

situation," lawyer Amanda Chisholm told the Salt Lake Tribune.

The children were among 462 removed from the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints compound earlier this month as part of a massive investigation into child-abuse allegations. The reasons for the hospitalizations appeared to be varied. However, few details were available.

The most serious case appeared to be a 2-year-old child reported lethargic and in shock. Legal aid said Monday it did not know where the child was or her current condition.

Texas Child Protective Services said last Friday one child had been hospitalized due to dehydration.
