"The Syrian government regrets the campaign of lies and falsification by the U.S. administration against Syria, including allegations of nuclear activity," the statement said. "Syria asks the United States to act responsibly and stop creating more crises in the Middle East."
Israeli officials have been tight-lipped about the Sept. 6 attack on the facility in a remote area of eastern Syria along the Euphrates River, but this week the U.S. government announced it had intelligence -- including a videotape allegedly made inside the facility before the attack -- the site was a nuclear reactor modeled on North Korean technology, Haaretz reported.
A U.S. intelligence official who asked not to be identified denied Syria's accusations and said the United States didn't authorize or encourage the airstrike, the report said.
