NEW DELHI, April 24 (UPI) -- A boat ferrying 28 members of a marriage party in India capsized in a reservoir Thursday, drowning 19 of them.
The incident occurred in the Bhatghar reservoir near Pune in western India's Maharashtra state as the marriage party was returning from an outing, the Press Trust of India reported.

Police said bodies of 11 of the 19 victims, who included women and children, had been recovered, while a search was on for the others.
Nine people were rescued by villagers who reached the spot after hearing distress calls, the report said.
Authorities blamed strong winds that caused the boat to capsize.
