JESSUP, Md., April 22 (UPI) -- Four people, including a baby, were killed Tuesday morning when their Nissan Altima was crushed in a head-on collision with a truck on a Maryland highway.

The crash occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on U.S. 1 in Jessup. Witnesses told police that the Altima, heading south, crossed into the northbound lane.

The highway was closed for hours. The southbound lanes reopened at 12:30 p.m.

Stanley Wells of Baltimore, who was driving the box truck, and Sean Foote of Columbia, Md., a passenger, were treated for minor injuries at Howard County General Hospital. Police said that Wells is unlikely to face any charges.

The dead were described as a man, believed to be from out of state, two women, one in her 40s and the other in her 20s and the baby. Police were still trying to confirm their identities and locate relatives late Tuesday.
