TEHRAN, April 21 (UPI) -- A United Nation's atomic energy agency official arrived Monday in Tehran for a two-day visit aimed at advancing cooperation between Iran and the United Nations.

Arrangements were made for Olli Heinonen, deputy director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, to meet with the deputy head of the Islamic Republic's Supreme National Security Council, Alalam Satellite TV reported.

A spokesman for the council said the two officials may discuss charges by the United States that Iran's nuclear capabilities aren't being developed solely for civilian purposes.

In February, IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei issued a progress report saying Iran had taken tremendous steps to cooperate with the U.N. agency.

Iran is under a series of U.N. sanctions for turning down calls to suspend its uranium enrichment activities.
