Hells Angels leader killed in S.F.
Gary Allan Platt, 54, of Clearwater and George Johnson, 44, of Palm Harbor were tossed from their boat when they hit a wave about 11 a.m. about eight miles off the Florida coast near Clearwater Pass, the Carrollwood News & Tribune reported. Another boater called authorities after spotting their empty 23-foot boat motoring in circles miles from where Platt and Johnson were dumped.
Two U.S. Coast Guard boats were dispatched and the two men were found about 2:10 p.m. about a half-mile apart from each other, the newspaper said.
It was estimated the boat was traveling 35 mph when the two were ejected.
The men were taken to a hospital to be checked out and were later released.
