OSLO, Norway, April 19 (UPI) -- Doctors Without Borders has received an estate bestowal worth an estimated $40 million from a Norwegian art collector, the late art expert's lawyer says.
The unidentified attorney for the late collector Haaken Christensen said Christensen respected the international medical organization's work and decided to leave it his entire art collection, Aftenposten reported Saturday.
"We are so grateful," DWB emergency help coordinator Rakel Helen Ludviksen said.
"This gift can save tens of thousands of lives."
Aftenposten said the bestowal from Christensen, who died last week, marked the largest gift the organization has ever received and would account for nearly 5 percent of its 2006 global annual budget.
