U.N. calls for new Haitian government

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti, April 18 (UPI) -- A new government should be chosen in Haiti to avoid yet more violence and protests, said a leading U.N. official.

The head of the United Nations mission in Haiti, Hedi Annabi, said a quick replacement for the prime minister fired last week by the Senate would lessen chances that the protests would erupt anew, Haitian radio reported Thursday.
