Premier accused of raping Puerto Rican

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, April 16 (UPI) -- The premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands has been accused of raping a Puerto Rican woman, according to authorities.

Police are looking into allegations that Premier Michael Misick raped the woman in San Juan in late March, El Nuevo Dia newspaper reported Wednesday.

Misick has denied the allegations and said he would be cleared in the course of the investigation.

The Turks and Caicos Islands are tropical atolls in the West Indies that are a British overseas territory.
