No 'Sarah' found yet at polygamist ranch

EL DORADO, Texas, April 16 (UPI) -- Almost two weeks after Texas authorities raided a polygamist ranch, they have not identified the 16-year-old whose phone calls triggered the raid.

The teenager, who gave the name Sarah, called the help line at NewBridge Family Shelter at the end of March. She said that she had been forced into a "spiritual marriage" as a 50-year-old man's seventh wife and had been raped and physically abused.

Some members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints say that Sarah does not exist, the Salt Lake Tribune reports. They believe the calls were a fake to justify the raid and the removal of hundreds of children from the church's YFZ Ranch in El Dorado.

"It's all a farce," a woman who would give her name only as Annette told the newspaper.

Investigators have been questioning teenage girls, trying to identify "Sarah."

"They find out and then let them go, then grab another one and try to find out and the let them go," Annette said.
