WASHINGTON, April 15 (UPI) -- A federal jury in Washington deliberated for less than a day before returning a guilty verdict Tuesday against the so-called D.C. Madam.
The jury convicted Deborah Jeane Palfrey on four felony counts stemming from her Washington-area prostitution business, ABC News reported. Palfrey maintained that she ran a "sexual fantasy services" escort firm and was unaware of sexual activity between her clients and the women who worked for her.
Palfrey's firm operated from 1993 to 2006, reportedly employed more than 130 women and brought in roughly $2 million in revenue, prosecutors said.
U.S. District Court Judge James Robertson declined a request by prosecutors to hold Palfrey until her July 24 sentencing.
