Gov. Gopal Krishna Gandhi, speaking at the ceremony in Kolkata highlighting the maiden voyage of the "Moitree Express" after 43 years of suspended service, urged the courts to act quickly to resolve outstanding cases of West Bengalis detained at state correction homes, the Press Trust of India reported.

"My concern is for those, especially the women and children, who are detained in the correctional homes in our state. ... May the court orders in their cases be implemented quickly," Gandhi said

Gandhi noted the matter is a broad concern for officials, saying West Bengal needs "a stable mechanism" for reconciliation.
