Texas Rangers interview Utah man

EL DORADO, Texas, April 13 (UPI) -- Texas Rangers traveled to Utah to interview the man named by a teenage girl who says she was forced into a "spiritual marriage."

Dale Evans Barlow, 50, agreed to the meeting, his lawyer, Bruce Griffen, told CNN. Griffen said Barlow has not been in Texas in more than 30 years and hopes to be able to prove that.

"They're doing their thing; we're doing our thing," Griffen said. "We may meet again. But at this point, Dale is not being arrested, and we are working cooperatively with them, and we made very clear to them that they have made a mistake."

The YFZ Ranch -- the letters stand for Yearning for Zion -- was raided April 3 after someone who described herself as 16 said she had been physically abused and raped. Children were removed from the compound in El Dorado.

Barlow is on probation in Arizona after serving 45 days in jail for conspiracy to have sex with a minor. Arizona probation officials said his meeting with the Texas investigators took place in St. George, Utah, just across the state line.
