BEIJING, April 11 (UPI) -- China Friday called a U.S. congressional resolution on Tibet a "rude interference" in its internal affair.

Citing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a strong admirer of Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, for proposing the measure, Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said the resolution "flagrantly distorted the history and reality of Tibet" and is a "a rude interference into China's internal affairs," Xinhua reported.

The Chinese reaction comes in the wake of its claim that Islamic terrorists planned to attack Beijing and other cities with explosives and gas to sabotage the Olympic Games set for August.

Chinese public security ministry has reportedly arrested 35 suspects in a recent 10-day raid in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uighur region, where China's ethnic Muslims have been protesting Chinese rule, similar to protests staged by the Tibetans.

The ministry, which did not provide any evidence to support the claim, also said the terrorists planned to kidnap foreign journalists, tourists and Olympic athletes, CNN reported.

The Independent reported China is becoming more isolated internationally because of Tibet. The European Parliament has said EU leaders should not attend the Olympics opening ceremony unless China agrees to talks with the Dalai Lama, the British newspaper reported.
