DETROIT, April 10 (UPI) -- A young man on trial in Michigan for allegedly killing and beheading another man often talked of wanting to be in the Mafia, a friend testified Thursday.

Adam Duwe also described seeing Jean Pierre Orlewicz, 18, allegedly playing Russian roulette, the Detroit Free Press reported.

"I watched him put one bullet in the chamber and play Russian roulette with himself," Duwe said.

Orlewicz, a Plymouth resident, faces life in prison with no parole if he is convicted of the first-degree murder of Daniel Sorensen of River Rouge.

On Wednesday, a former co-defendant who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last week told the jury in Wayne County Circuit Court about the killing. Alexander Letkemann, 18, of Westland said he watched as Orlewicz used a hacksaw to cut off Sorensen's head.

"It made small cracking noises, like a bunch of small twigs being broken," Letkemann testified.

Sorensen's family began to cry, becoming so upset that the judge called for a break.
