NEW YORK, April 10 (UPI) -- Two honors students face conspiracy charges for allegedly trying to sell a homemade bomb for $5 at their prestigious New York school, officials said.
The 13-year-old students were removed from class at Mark Twain Intermediate School 239 for the Gifted and Talented Wednesday after a teacher found a note about the kids trying to sell a bomb, the New York Post reported Thursday. It is alleged the students learned how to construct a chemical bomb on the Internet site YouTube.
"The kids were brought in and were very remorseful and crying. They wrote letters of apology," a source said.
Police said the students were not in possession of any bomb materials or explosives. A source said the charges will likely be dismissed.
