TAMPA, Fla., April 9 (UPI) -- A former Florida teacher who admitted having sex with a 14-year-old boy won a concession from a judge Tuesday -- three months off her house arrest.

Deborah Lafave had asked for immediate release, the St. Petersburg Times reported. The judge declined but set July 11 as the date when she will move to probation.

Assistant State Attorney Mike Sinicore said the family of the teenager strongly object to Lafave getting any time off her sentence.

"This is a very egregious offense," Sinicore said. "There's absolutely no reason for you to mitigate this sentence at all."

The psychiatrist who has been treating Lafave said she is ready to move on.

Under her plea agreement, Lafave was sentenced to three years house arrest followed by seven years on probation. The terms allowed her to apply for an end to house arrest once she had completed two years.
