Analyst: Senate may decide Minn. election
Monday, December 1
The New York Times (NYSE:NYT) reported that witnesses said dozens of protesters took to the streets in Kibera, a slum in the capital city Nairobi.
The newspaper reported protesters lit bonfires, ripped up railroad tracks and threw rocks at police officers.
Rival politicians signed a power-sharing pact Feb. 28, ending weeks of violence after a disputed presidential election in December.
Under the framework hammered out with the help of former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan, President Mwai Kibaki and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga agreed to form a national unity government in which Cabinet positions would be split evenly.
