FORT WORTH, Texas, April 2 (UPI) -- A Texas couple married 75 years died this week five hours apart while holding hands in bed.
Josie and JC Cox of Fort Worth were married on Christmas Day in 1932 and slept in the same bed together until their nearly simultaneous deaths Tuesday, WFAA-TV in Dallas/Fort Worth reported.
Josie, 96, reportedly was her 100-year-old husband's only caregiver, until they moved into a nursing home in March.
"She was still ironing his clothes three weeks ago," said Marla Williamson, one of the couple's granddaughters.
"She was going to make sure, even though he never went anywhere, his clothes were going to be starched," added Lesha Grimm, another granddaughter.
Grimm told reporters her grandmother died within five hours of her husband after she told her, "Your children are waiting for you, and Pa is waiting for you."
