Fetus left on U.S. airliner was stillborn

HOUSTON, April 1 (UPI) -- Houston police say an eighth-grader told them she had no idea she was pregnant after delivering a stillborn fetus aboard an airliner.

No charges were likely to be filed against the 14-year-old who left the fetus in the restroom of a Continental Airlines flight while returning to Texas during the weekend from a school trip to New York City.

"The baby was stillborn; it was not alive at the time of birth," police investigator Keith Lovelace said. "We are dealing with a scared child at this point."

The Houston Chronicle said Tuesday that police were still trying to determine who the father was.
