PRINCETON, N.J., April 1 (UPI) -- Only 42 percent of Democrats say they would like to see Hillary Clinton on a Democratic presidential ticket headed by Barack Obama, a Gallup Poll indicates.

Conversely, 55 percent said they would like to see the Illinois senator on a ticket headed by Clinton.

The poll found just 29 percent of Obama supporters favor Clinton as a running mate while 70 percent said Obama should choose someone else. Fifty-three percent of Clinton supporters said they would like her to choose Obama for the No. 2 spot.

An earlier Gallup Poll found Clinton supporters are less likely than Obama supporters to remain loyal to the Democratic party should their candidate fail to capture the top nod.

Some 1,005 U.S. adults at least 18 years of age were polled March 24-27. The margin of error was pegged at 4 percentage points.
