Missing hikers found dead

March 31, 2008 at 9:17 PM

SOMERSET, Pa., March 31 (UPI) -- The deaths of two Pennsylvania residents are being investigated after their bodies were found in Forbes State Forest Park, police said.

Sara Baum, 21, of Greensburg and Christopher Cardy, 25, of Ligionier set out in the park Saturday, but failed to return, WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh reported.

"The two went hiking yesterday and the family knew where they were, knew they were up here last night (but) they didn't come home as planned," said Lt. Brad Shriek of the Pennsylvania State Police.

Cardy's mother searched for the couple Sunday, but found only their car, Shreik told the newspaper. Police later found the bodies 30 feet underneath an area of the park named Beam's Rock.
